What does it take?:
  • 4 to 6 team members - Seek out friends, family or co-workers.
  • Encouragement and motivation from one another.
  • Members who are working toward the same goal.

What to do next:

  • Visit the Team Spirit website or a facility in your area.
  • Review the easy membership plan, the competition and fun that goes with working as a team.
  • Make the 12-week wellness commitment.
  • Get oriented on the program and the program guidelines.
 
 
 

 Other suggestions to experience fun, enjoyable and effective competition

  • Encourage your team and meet weekly to review team progress.  This meeting can be informal and held outside the center.

  • Develop a list of guidelines with consequences.  For example:

    • A penalty of $1 for missing a workout. 

    • The team member with the biggest weight loss in any given week is given "immunity" from penalties but the rest of the team owes a dollar. 

    • All penalty monies go into the "kitty".  At the end of the competition, the biggest loser (weight) gets the "kitty" proceeds.

  • Send your teammates encouraging letters or emails to help them through the week.

  • Approach your employer about sponsoring your team.  Studies show that improved worker health provides for improved productivity and decreases in absenteeism.  A huge savings to any employer!

  • Ask for our help - we want to build solid foundations.
